MGCCC Volleyball hits the court Aug. 23

PERKINSTON — The inaugural Mississippi Gulf Coast volleyball season will be served up starting Aug. 23.

Coach Shayna Walsh's Bulldogs will travel to Bay Minette to play in a trimatch at Coastal Alabama, with the first home game coming two days later. Coastal Alabama-South visits Perkinston. The match starts at 6 p.m. in Dantzler Arena.

"I look at the schedule every day, and I'm just counting down the days," said Walsh.

There are 33 matches on the schedule, with 12 of them at Perk. MACCC play starts Aug. 27 when the Bulldogs travel to Jones. Conference play includes 16 matches, with one at home and one away against the other eight teams.

"I have contacts throughout the state, and I reached out to the surrounding areas — Alabama, mainly," Walsh said. "We have a good schedule. I'm looking forward to it."

The NJCAA Region 23 Tournament will start Oct. 29, when the top-four seeds host quarterfinal matches. The semifinals and final will be hosted by the MACCC champion, which is determined by regular-season play. The winner takes on the Region 22 winner from Alabama for the Gulf South District title on Nov. 8.

The NJCAA Division II Volleyball Championship is in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Nov. 19-22.

Season passes and single-game tickets will be on sale soon. The full schedule is at https://mgcccbulldogs.com/sports/wvball/2025-26/schedule. All games will be played at Dantzler Arena.
