Bulldogs lose to ECCC at home
PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast couldn't keep its first-set momentum going Monday night, dropping a home MACCC contest. The Bulldogs dropped the next three sets to East Central at Dantzler Arena.
Gulf Coast won the opening set 25-13 before losing 25-19, 25-22, 25-20.
The Bulldogs are now 6-3 overall, 1-3 in MACCC. East Central is 5-2, 3-1.
Gulf Coast lost the final six points of the second set after a big comeback, then trailed 12-7 in the third set before getting back even at 16. The Warriors rolled off four straight points to take a 23-18 lead, and Cambell Herrington (Fr., Brandon/Brandon) served three straight points as the Bulldogs staved off four set points, but they couldn't finish the comeback.
In the final set, Gulf Coast erased another deficit to tie it at 18, but East Central would win the final five points and the match.
Sydney Tague (Fr., Olive Branch/DeSoto Central) had 26 assists, and Herrington had 25 digs. Mariah Hammond (Fr., Slidell, La./Northshore) had 14 kills, and Malorie Gaughf had 11.
Gulf Coast travels to Fulton on Wednesday to take on Itawamba. The match starts at 5 p.m. and will be streamed at https://letsgoicctv.com/red-channel/.
