Bulldogs reverse sweep Coastal

Mississippi Gulf Coast used a setback as a starting point for a comeback Tuesday, posting its second reverse sweep of the season to upend Coastal Alabama-South in five sets.

The Bulldogs won 19-25, 23-25, 25-18, 25-21, 15-8 in a non-conference clash to improve to 17-12 on the season. They finished their second season sweep of an opponent in as many days, having now beaten the Coyotes (11-20) three times.

Cambell Herrington (Fr., Brandon/Brandon) had 41 digs and six aces, both team-highs. Sydney Tague (Fr., Olive Branch/DeSoto Central) had 25 assists with four aces.

Malorie Gaughf (Fr., Gulfport/Harrison Central) led Gulf Coast with 15 kills and tied Reese Sorrells (Fr., Picayune/Picayune) with three blocks. Alexa Shinabery (Fr., Marion, Ark./Marion) had 13 kills and two blocks. 

Gulf Coast returns to MACCC play Wednesday with a short trip to Poplarville. The match against Pearl River starts at 6 p.m., and it will be streamed at https://prccmedia.com/watchlive/gold/.
