Bulldogs split in Brewton

Mississippi Gulf Coast got a split in Saturday's volleyball trimatch at Brewton, Ala., defeating Gadsden State before losing to host Coastal Alabama-North.

The Bulldogs beat Gadsden State 25-22, 25-15, 25-21 led by seven kills by Mariah Hammond (Fr., Slidell, La./Northshore). Lila Turner (Fr., Kiln/Hancock) had 15 assists and three aces, and Cambell Herrington (Fr., Brandon/Brandon) had 11 digs and three aces. Malorie Gaughf (Fr., Gulfport/Harrison Central) had five blocks.

In the second match, the Coyotes won 21-25, 25-17, 25-19, 26-24. Gaughf led the Bulldogs with 13 kills, and Hammond had 11. Sydney Tague (Fr., Olive Branch/DeSoto Central) had 27 assists and two aces, while Alexa Shinabery (Fr., Marion, Ark./Marion) had 16 digs.
