Bulldogs dominate Hinds 91-25

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast beat Hinds in historic fashion Thursday night, posting the biggest margin of victory in at least 15 years.

The Bulldogs won 91-25 at Dantzler Arena, topping a 59-point win over Holmes in December 2021. They held Hinds to 11 points through three quarters.

"We had a great team win," Gulf Coast coach Hope Adams said. "We played team defense tonight. We controlled the boards. I loved the way we shared the ball. It looked like they were having fun."

Gulf Coast (10-3) stayed perfect through four MACCC games by winning its sixth straight. Two Bulldogs bested or tied Hinds' offensive output by themselves. Taelar Felton (So., Clinton/Clinton) had 31 points, and Katelyn Brinkley (So., Ridgeland/Ridgeland) scored 25.

Gulf Coast outscored Hinds 30-1 in the second quarter, and Hinds didn't manage more than six points in a quarter until the fourth. The Bulldogs led 77-11 after three quarters.

All 11 Bulldogs who played scored. Gulf Coast beat Holmes 103-44 on Dec. 2, 2021, the previous high since game-by-game scores are available.

Hinds is now 3-12, 0-3.

"It looked like we're gelling pretty well, and I see this team starting to elevate," Gulf Coast coach Hope Adams said. "I don't want to say we're peaking just yet, but we're definitely heading in the right direction. We didn't want to peak too early, want to be playing our best ball late, and I think we're headed that direction."

Gulf Coast has its conference open date on Monday, and the Bulldogs will travel to Decatur on Jan. 29. Tipoff against East Central will be at 5:30 p.m.
