No. 12 Bulldogs glide past No. 25 Hinds

PERKINSTON — No. 12 Mississippi Gulf Coast cruised to its third straight victory Tuesday, beating No. 25 Hinds 8-1 at the MGCCC Tennis Complex.

"It was a take-care-of-business kind of a day," Bulldogs coach Sam Blackburn said. "Our depth really showed again today, and we got to move guys around the lineup a little bit. That got some guys some more playing time, and everybody, for the most part, did a really great job."

Gulf Coast is 4-1 overall and remains unbeaten in MACCC play after four matches. Hinds falls to 2-6, 1-3.

The Bulldogs jumped out quickly by winning the three doubles courts in less than 40 minutes. They didn't drop a game at Nos. 2 and 3.

Angel Hernandez (Fr., Puebla, Mexico/UPAEP) continued his strong play. After teaming up with Ryland Buford (So., Gulfport/Gulfport) to win No. 1 doubles, he got another point at No. 1 singles.

"He's been dialed in," Blackburn said. "He was playing the winner of the IPA Regional tournament in straight sets, so that's pretty impressive from him."

Gulf Coast was scheduled to play a scrimmage against the University of New Orleans on Wednesday, but the match has been postponed due to a Privateers' scheduling conflict. The Bulldogs will travel to Goodman on Friday to play Holmes. First serves are at 4:30 p.m.
