7 sign with MGCCC softball
PERKINSTON – Mississippi Gulf Coast softball coach Kenneth Long has signed seven players to letters of intent to begin play in 2017.
The Lady Bulldogs are defending MACJC and Region 23 champs with a ninth-place finish at the national tournament.
"I think we filled some holes," Long said. "Watching them in a couple of camps recently, they're a little bit better than we thought they were going to be. They're going to help us a lot."
He said he thought the players would do well on and off the field, too.
"They come from good solid programs," Long said. "Their backgrounds are good. They've played travel ball. I think it's going to be a good group. Academically, they're probably being above-average."
