MGCCC stays at No. 3 in latest softball poll
PERKINSTON – Mississippi Gulf Coast remains ranked third in the latest Marucci Sports NJCAA Division II Softball Poll.
The Lady Bulldogs (37-3, 21-3 MACJC) won six games last week, including a doubleheader sweep at East Central. The Lady Warriors dropped to No. 4, with Jones moving up two spots to sixth and Itawamba falling one to 12th.
Sophomore Kaitlin Lee is leading Gulf Coast with a 0.58 ERA, third-best among NJCAA Division II pitchers with 50-plus innings. The Ole Miss signees' 18 wins tie her for second-most in the county.
Freshman Nora Keehn's 0.86 ERA ranks fourth, with Gulf Coast's team ERA of 0.94 the lowest among reporting teams with more than 100 innings.
Freshman shortstop Lexie Mathis has 14 home runs to tie for ninth, and her 53 RBI rank 13th.
Gulf Coast plays Copiah-Lincoln on Friday and closes out the regular season Sunday against East Mississippi. First pitch at Sophomore Day will be at 1 p.m.
