Gulf Coast retains No. 2 ranking
PERKINSTON – Mississippi Gulf Coast retained its No. 2 spot in the latest Marucci NJCAA Division II Softball Rankings.
The Lady Bulldogs (25-3, 9-3 MACJC) are being led at the plate by shortstop Lexie Mathis, who is tied for second in the Division II with 12 home runs and tied for third with 44 RBI.
Kaitlin Lee has the second-lowest ERA (0.42) of any pitcher in the country who has thrown more than 20 innings. Her 12 wins are tied for seventh most in the nation, as are her 81 strikeouts.
Gulf Coast returns to action Friday when Meridian travels to Ross-Smith Field. It will mark just the third doubleheader in Perkinston this season.
