Bulldogs fall twice in Meridian

Lexi Patterson homered twice in Game 2, but Mississippi Gulf Coast lost twice Tuesday at Meridian. The Eagles won 4-1 and 10-6.

Patterson (Fr., Ackerman/Choctaw County) hit a three-run homer in the first to give the Bulldogs (25-22, 9-17 MACCC) a 4-0 lead in the first inning, and a solo shot in the fifth for a 6-3 advantage.

The Eagles (29-22, 15-11) scored twice in the sixth, tied it with a bases-loaded walk in the seventh, and ended it with a grand slam.

Brooklyn Mitchell (So., Gulfport/St. Patrick) had two doubles, and Natalie Jones (So., Lucedale/George County) also had a double. Baleigh Tullos (So., Hurley/East Central) had two hits.

Caroline Batson had two hits in the opener and scored the only run on a Kailee Lawson single.

The Bulldogs close out the regular season Friday when East Mississippi visits Perkinston. First pitch at Ross-Smith Field is set for 2 p.m., and the games will be streamed at https://mgcccbulldogs.com/watch.
