Gulf Coast opens with a W

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast's balanced scoring attack paved the way for a big win on the opening day of the 2025-26 men's basketball season. The Bulldogs beat Coastal Alabama-South 104-81 in Pensacola.

King George (Fr., Olive Branch/Olive Branch) led the Bulldogs with 15 points, and Jaron LeMelle (Fr., Birmingham, Ala./Langston Hughes) had a 13-point, 15-rebound double-double.

Gulf Coast shot 55 percent from the field in the second half and held the Coyotes to under 38 percent.

Maddox Noblitt (Fr., Ocean Springs/Ocean Springs) made 4-of-7 from behind the arc and had 14. Zakariyya Dwight (Fr., Cordele, Ga./Crisp County) had 13 Points, Matthew Hinton (So., Atlanta, Ga./Dutchtown) had 12 on 6-for-6 shooting from the field, and Kari Hamilton (So., Jackson/Clinton) had 11.

Gulf Coast returns Saturday to play host Pensacola State at 5 p.m. The game will be streamed at https://piratenetwork.live/watch-live/.
