Parish’s 35 paces Bulldogs
Duran Parish poured in 35 points to tie a career high and help lead Mississippi Gulf Coast to an 85-82 win against Bishop State in Bay Minette, Ala.
"He carried us," Gulf Coast coach Owen Miller said. "He got the ball at the rim and made some big shots. He got some steals that led to some easy baskets when we went on a run there. He was really good tonight."
The Bulldogs improved to 6-1 with the win, erasing a 42-41 halftime deficit. They led by double-digits in the second half and held on.
Jaron LeMelle (Fr., Birmingham, Ala./Langston Hughes) had 13 points, and Kelinee Stone (Fr., Baton Rouge, La./Woodlawn) added 10.
"We didn't play very good in the first half," Miller said. "We didn't have an edge about us to start the game, and I don't know what that's about, but we'll get that fixed. We made just enough plays at the end."
Bishop State is now 3-4.
Gulf Coast is back in Bay Minette on Friday to play host Coastal Alabama-South. Tipoff is set for 3:30 p.m., and the game will be streamed at https://www.jockjive.com/.
