Bulldogs win by 70

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast rebounded from a stinker of an offensive game with a big win in the Bulldogs' home opener Tuesday night, beating Baton Rouge Post-Grad 159-89.

Nine players scored in double-digits for the Bulldogs (2-1), led by Duran Parish (So., Biloxi/Biloxi) with 35.

"We scored 50 on Saturday night and made two 3's," Gulf Coast coach Owen Miller said. "I think tonight we made 21, so we shot the ball really well. It's good to play at home."

Parish made six 3-pointers, and Maddox Noblitt (Fr., Ocean Springs/Ocean Springs) came off the bench to make five on his way to 18 points.

King George (Fr., Olive Branch/Olive Branch) and Matthew Hinton (So., Atlanta, Ga./Dutchtown) had 15 each. Cledarius Ross (Fr., Pascagoula/Pascagoula) and Kelinee Stone (Fr., Baton Rouge, La./Woodlawn) and Juan Santiago Hector (Fr., D'Iberville/D'Iberville) added 12, with Jaron LeMelle (Fr., Birmingham, Ala./Langston Hughes) picking up 11.

The Bulldogs scored 86 points in the first half. The 159 points are the most since at least the 2012-13 season. Gulf Coast beat Royal Ambassadors 154-60 in November 2021.

"We made some improvement," Miller said. "We've still got to get better defense, and we didn't get off to a very good start. But overall, we had a lot of guys contribute, a lot of guys saw the ball going into the basket, and that helps our confidence."
